"THAT AIN'T NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY"

"A collage of dance, poetry, and music that dramatizes the cause and effect of Domestic violence.

Every 9 seconds in the United States a women is battered

1 out of 4 women will be raped before they reach the age of 20.

In the United States are 3,800 animal shelters compared to 1,900 women's shelters

"That Ain't No Way To Treat A Lady" combines dance, dramatic performance, and popular music in a powerful and educational program that deals with the issue of Violence Against women.

Nancy Hulse brings to each performance the experience and insight she has gained from working with women and women's issues for almost 20 years. With a strong presence, intensity and sense of humor, Ms. hulse involves her audience through direct dialogue and active participation. Her goal is to heighten the viewers awareness of the pervasiveness of violence against women in our culture.

Six segments, set to different songs illustrate the history of an abusive relationship, one that is specific in it's violence and yet universal in it's theme.

The music and dance segments are punctuated by poetry of women authors, dialogue, facts, statistics and educational materials.

Through the use of a professional sound system, special lighting effects, and large screen video projection - a multi-media experience is created that is truly hard to forget. The actual performance last approximately 60 minutes with an open ended discussion following.

Local women's groups (centers, shelters and advocates) are encouraged to participate.
